That’s the verdict of the Argentine’s former Barcelona team-mate Alexander Hleb, who’s spoken out in the wake of this weekend’s round of Champions League fixtures.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi have battled it out in La Liga since 2009 and they have each won five Ballon d’Or awards during their careers.
The duo will be gunning for the prestigious prize once again this year and their hopes of securing success will be shaped partly by their achievements at club level.
Real have struggled domestically this season but have surpassed Barcelona in the Champions League, in which they’ll face Bayern Munich in the semi-finals.
