Imo women pray for Nigerian leaders, peaceful election

Wife of the Imo state governor, Nneoma Rochas Okorocha, on Wednesday led hundreds of women to pray for an end to the killings across the country and peaceful elections come 2019.
The women who converged at the Government House Chapel for the monthly prayer organized by the Women of Divine Destiny Initiative (WODDI), interceded on behalf of Nigerian leaders for God to give them the grace to be committed to good governance and the preservation of the nation’s unity.
The governor’s wife observed that the country needs God’s divine intervention to overcome the current security challenges, noting that if the women utilize the powers God had deposited in them, they could achieve great feats, especially in restoring peace and unity.
She said the theme of this month’s edition, ‘Women Agent of Unity and Commitment’, was prayerfully chosen to remind the women of the roles God has placed in their hands, especially as it concerns building the home and the society.
According to her, “when you talk about unity and commitment, you talk about the women. Commitment cannot be achieved through education but through conscious desire. So we as women should be committed to the course of unity and peace in our families and country”.
Earlier in his brief sermon, the guest speaker and senior Pastor of the House on the Rock Church Enugu, Edwin Baiyebo, described women as the greatest agents of unity.
Citing Bible verses, Baiyebo, emphasized the role of women in entrenching peace and unity in the society, adding that “women are greater agents of unity than men. It can take committed and prayerful women to build peace in a troubled nation”.

The Chaplain of the Chapel, Pastor Bumi Babbs, admonished the women to rise up and pray for Nigerian leaders and the nation, instead of complaining and murmuring.
He said, “When women make up their minds about anything, nothing can stop them. Women play major roles in conflict resolution be it political, religious or ethnic. So the women need to rise above complaints and intercede on behalf of our leaders for God to direct their actions so that the nation can prosper and be united”.
The women also prayed for peaceful conduct of the 2019 general elections, while special prayers were said for Imo state and the governor, Rochas Okorocha.
