President Muhammadu Buhari is presiding over a virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) holding at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting, which is currently ongoing, began about 10 am with many top government officials in attendance.
They include Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, Head of Service of the Federation (HOSF), Folasade Yemi-Esan; and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (Rtd).
Most of the ministers are attending virtually, but seven are physically present in the closed-door session.
Others in attendance physically include the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami; Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; and Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Others are Ministers of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fasola; Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Date; and the Minister of State for Education, Chief Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba.
At the commencement of the meeting, after the recitation of the National Anthem, the SGF, Mustapha, called for a minute silence in honour of the late Mallam Isa Funtua, who passed away on Monday.
