Everton youngster Nathangelo Markelo is being eyed up by Dutch side FC Twente for a loan deal, just weeks after he signed a new contract keeping him at Goodison Park.

As reported by Tubantia, the Eredivisie club are in contact with Everton regarding a season-long loan deal for the 21-year-old Dutch youth international.

It is claimed that Marcel Brands is keen on Markelo to get some regular playing time away from Everton’s under-23s and heading to Twente could be the perfect opportunity for just that

The versatile midfielder, who can also play at right-back or centre-back, was set to be out of contract at Everton this summer.

However, he signed a new deal keeping him at Finch Farm until 2022 recently and is all set for some regular first-team experience.

Markelo has been training with the Everton first-team recently and told the club’s website how it was ‘crazy’ to be coached by the ‘amazing’ Carlo Ancelotti.

“It feels good for me to sign this contract because it means Everton sees real potential in me. It gives me a lot of confidence.

“Everton is such a big club and I am so happy I have two more years to show what I can do.

“Everton is one of the biggest clubs in Europe and has big ambitions for the future. For them to show this belief in me means a lot.”

He also suggested that Everton had made it clear to him that they have big plans for his future but that might mean immediately heading out from the club for the 2020-21 campaign.
