Jarrod Bowen and his West Ham United teammates left Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon with mixed feelings after a 2-2 Premier League draw.
The Hammers claimed a useful point on the road to add to the three they collected against Chelsea in midweek, but there was still the feeling it could have been more.
Having twice taken the lead through Michail Antonio and Tomas Soucek, and registered 17 shots to the hosts’ eleven, West Ham would have been good value for all three points.
Ultimately they had to settle for one as Miguel Almiron and Jonjo Shelvey hit back, but Bowen says the result will nevertheless help the Hammers build momentum at a crucial time in their campaign.

“I think it should have been three points,” he said. “We’re just disappointed with the way we scored the first goal and conceded soon after, then the same happened with the second goal.
“We worked so hard to get that second goal, so to concede a couple of minutes later is a real sickener, but it’s a point on the road and a point towards survival, so we’ll take it.
“We’re just going to try and pick up as many points as we can. We wanted to come here and get three points today, we couldn’t get that but we got a point.
“I think at this stage of the season it’s all about confidence and momentum. We got three points against Chelsea and came into the game confident.
“Then we’ve got a point away from home, and any point away from home is good. We’re disappointed that we didn’t get three, but we can use this again for when we play Burnley on Wednesday.”
