The management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has stated that the Federal Government will not review the pump price of the premium motor spirit (fuel) above N145 per litre, just as it has charged the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR to sanction any marketer selling above the approved pump price.
The management also stated that the Corporation has 1.3billion litres of petrol which will serve for 36 days, therefore caution motorists against panic buying of fuel.
The Corporation, in a statement from the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Ndu Ughamadu, stated that the recent increase in bridging allowance to transporters from N6.20 to N7.20 per litre will not in any way lead to an increase in the pump price.
Ughamadu stated that the Chief Operating Officer (COO), in charge of Downstream operations of the Corporation, Mr. Henry Ikem Obih provided the clarification, as he stated that there was no plan by government or any of its agencies to review the pump price of petrol above N145 per litre.
