CITN Confers Fellowship Award on Members

In line with its professional conduct, the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), conferred fellowship awards to qualified members.
The ceremony, which took place during the organisation’s Annual Dinner Awards and Fellowship Conferment held in Lagos recently, saw 308 members receiving various categories of Fellowship Awards respectively.
The President, CITN, Dr. Cyril Ikemefuna Ede during his special, said the ceremony was for members who had applied and fulfilled conditions set by the Council.
“The award segment of this ceremony was put on hold by Council this year to allow us to reappraise the process to make it more glamorous and appealing, “Ede said.
While congratulating the awardees, he explained the award is an indication of their progression as members of CITN tax professionals.
Ede also pointed out that the elevation comes with responsibilities that also require higher levels of professionalism geared at improving the profession towards moving the Institute forward.
He, however, urged them to devote time and energy by engaging in laudable ventures that would promote the profession and the Institute sustainability.
“CITN has continued to play its role in the tax system with emphasis on its statutory responsibilities as spelt out in the Chartered, “he said.
Additionally, Ede noted that CITN is happy the government harkened to its call for renewed emphasis on taxation for effective revenue mobilisation both in words and action.
He further averred that the introduction of Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS) is a welcome development by the federal government that would provide avenue towards bringing more persons into the tax net.
