At least 72 people were killed and more than 10,000 people lost their homes after massive landslides that occurred early Saturday morning in West Pokot County in northwestern Kenya, the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on November 27.
"Overall, more than 160,000 people, including nearly 18,000 who are displaced countrywide, have been affected by floods or landslides since the onset of the short rains in October," OCHA said.
Local media reported that infrastructures including bridges and roads, which connected to the disaster area in West Pokot County, was damaged, severely affecting rescue operations.
