Milan lost 1-0 to Manchester United in the return leg of their Europa League last-16 match, the Rossoneri were eliminated from the competition by a 2-1 aggregate scoreline to the English visitors. After the clash, coach Stefano Pioli spoke to Sky Sport to discuss the performance and the evening's aftermath: "We are unhappy because in the two matches we played as a very strong team, we needed to score a goal in the first half and it would have changed our destiny. It's too bad because we have done much to arrive here and we needed to give something more and we weren't able to. They were able to play their best team and I would have hoped to do the same. The two performances were very good, we were missing a little bit. We're young but that's not an excuse, this match more than any will allow us to grow."
"We knew that our league competition would be difficult, the top seven are very strong, but getting a Champions League spot would mean lots of growth on our end. We will have a lot of sprit to finish the league knowing we have the quality to reach our objectives."
"In one sense I was unhappy with the draw but in another I was happy to compare ourselves with English football. Analyzing the play I can say our football is close to theirs. We showed that Italian football can reach a certain level."
